  1. # Readme
  2. This repository contains the config files from DWM for MacPro and Mac Air computers.
  3. dwm - dynamic window manager
  4. ============================
  5. dwm is an extremely fast, small, and dynamic window manager for X.
  6. Requirements
  7. ------------
  8. In order to build dwm you need the Xlib header files.
  9. Installation
  10. ------------
  11. Edit config.mk to match your local setup (dwm is installed into
  12. the /usr/local namespace by default).
  13. Afterwards enter the following command to build and install dwm (if
  14. necessary as root):
  15. make clean install
  16. Running dwm
  17. -----------
  18. Add the following line to your .xinitrc to start dwm using startx:
  19. exec dwm
  20. In order to connect dwm to a specific display, make sure that
  21. the DISPLAY environment variable is set correctly, e.g.:
  22. DISPLAY=foo.bar:1 exec dwm
  23. (This will start dwm on display :1 of the host foo.bar.)
  24. In order to display status info in the bar, you can do something
  25. like this in your .xinitrc:
  26. while xsetroot -name "`date` `uptime | sed 's/.*,//'`"
  27. do
  28. sleep 1
  29. done &
  30. exec dwm
  31. Configuration
  32. -------------
  33. The configuration of dwm is done by creating a custom config.h
  34. and (re)compiling the source code.
